Offseason Fishing Report 2-6-18

NEW YORK

Point Lookout

Trips are slated to fish for ling and cod 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays through Sundays on the party boat Captain Al, Capt. Tom said. But when the boat had the weather to sail this past weekend, too few anglers, only two or three, showed up for the vessel to fish. The crew will try to head out this weekend. When cod are in, the boat targets them. Otherwise, the trips fish wrecks for ling, cod or whatever will bite. See More Info. Call: 516-623-2248.

DELAWARE/MARYLAND

No fishing on the ocean was reported from this area. An online report said a couple of charter boats departed Delaware to fish at other locations including North Carolina. During some winters, blackfishing produces from Delaware this season. But a cold ocean this winter might’ve slowed that angling.

NORTH CAROLINA

Oregon Inlet

Bluefin tuna began showing up for boaters from Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, Norma York said.  She heard about a few hook-ups on commercial boats. Charter boats fished today for the first time in about two weeks from the docks, because rough weather kept them in port previously. Results were yet to be reported at press time. A couple of charters sailed on Jan. 27 from the marina, landing a good number of yellowfin tuna and a few blackfin tuna. Visit Website.

FLORIDA

Islamorada

Fishing got out a little and was decent with Captain Easy Charters in the past week, Capt. Bruce Andersen said. Sailfish, a few wahoos and quite a number of kingfish whacked live cigar minnows and speedos just offshore of the reef. Inshore of the reef that’s located 3 miles from port, mutton snappers and mangrove snappers were hooked on chunks of bait at patch reefs in chum slicks. Call: 305-360-2120. Visit Website.
